My name is Luke Horak and I am a Junior studying Accounting at Texas Tech. Being the youngest of 4 boys in my family, I grew up immersed in nearly every sport under the sun. I started CrossFit when I was a sophomore in High School back in 2015 and recently just passed my 5 year anniversary. I have been a coach for 2 years and have experience coaching both here in Lubbock and back home in Dallas. Some of my favorite CrossFit experiences have been: Competing at the Granite Games, Mid-Atlantic CrossFit Competition, and winning the Teenage division in 2018 at The Fittest Experience.
A big turning point for me in my life was when I moved to Lubbock as a freshman in 2018. In High School, I struggled a lot with popularity and feeling excluded. It was not until I got to Tech when I was able to have the right people to come into my life and be given the opportunity to figure out who I am and who I want to be. Looking back I wish I could tell 18-year-old Luke to not care so much about what people think, however, this is still something 20-year-old Luke needs to remember.
My purpose for coaching is to help others along in their fitness journey. Everyone has their own story when it comes to fitness and everyone is so different. CrossFit is a fitness methodology I fully support and I love being able to share that with other like-minded individuals.
